From organic waste to biogas thanks to a user-friendly digital ecosystem

The Methaplanet Maxximizer is a “Factory as a Service” solution that producers of organic waste or biogas can buy or lease. In order to save transport costs and the environment, this factory is built as close as possible to the production site of the organic waste and biogas. Methaplanet remotely ensures that all factories continue to run as optimally as possible and that malfunctions are quickly resolved or prevented.

In order to do this efficiently, Informaat designed the digital ecosystem using a holistic perspective. As a result, the various users in the chain receive the correct messages, information and controls to make the Maxximizer work as optimally as possible. Think of the control panels in the factory, a mobile app for the operators, a customer portal for the manager and a back office suite for Methaplanet service employees.

At the start of this project, the Maxximizer only existed on the drawing board. In order to make the user experience of the digital ecosystem concrete, we used our “reference design” methodology. The various apps are designed as interactive prototypes in a timebox of eight weeks. Where the various users and stakeholders are actively involved in this process.

Thanks to the reference designs, Methaplanet knew at an early stage what users and they themselves needed, even before hardware and software development had started. The reference designs have helped to choose the right technologies and development partners. In addition, the reference designs were used to convince investors and launching customers.
