10 years of UX management circle

The UX management circle, an initiative of Informaat, exists 10 years. The UX management circle is a community of UX managers from more than 30 leading brands, including ING, NS, ABN-Amro, TomTom, DUO, Municipality of Amsterdam and Adidas.

The impact of AI on UX

The anniversary, which will be celebrated on April 20, 2023, will be dedicated to AI. Participants will share insights and discuss the impact of AI on UX, potential risks posed by AI, and how AI can be leveraged to improve the user experience.

Developments and trends

"Over the past 10 years, we have organized numerous meetings for the UX management circle, always focusing on the latest developments and trends in the field of UX management," says Susanne van Mulken, Strategy director at Informaat. "We are excited to celebrate our 10th anniversary with the theme of AI, as AI is becoming an increasingly important component for many companies, and will undoubtedly play a significant role for UX managers as well. We look forward to hearing the insights our community will share during this anniversary edition."

The UX manager

Over the past 10 years, the UX departments in companies and organizations have grown significantly. This also created a new role: the UX manager, the person who leads the total of UX efforts within an organization. For 10 years, UX managers have met regularly in the UX management circle, which is held three times a year, sometimes at Informaat's headquarters in Hilversum, sometimes at one of the participating organizations.

Ongoing effort

Where UX professionals often work together in teams, the UX manager is often on his own in the organization. The UX management circle was created as a network where UX managers can meet their peers and talk about the challenges of their profession.

Challenges for UX managers

The conversations in the circle often show that the challenges live on a tactical or strategic level. Positioning UX in the organization, thinking in digital ecosystems, determining ethical frameworks around big data: these are a few examples of more strategic challenges.

Continuous improvement of UX teams is cited by many UX managers as a major challenge. Finding the right people is not easy. Good UX-ers prefer to work for an organization with a long tradition and reputation in the field of design, for themselves or at an agency.
